How to generate good ideas? Practice sports!
During the recent years I have changed my life style significantly. I am 29 years old now and I think I have never been in a so good physical shape before. Although I have played basketball during high school and for a short period I went in rowing, I have never taken physical exercise as seriously as I do it now.
I aim at practicing six times a week although occasionally I do not find time for it, so there are weeks when I have four or five training sessions. Twice a week I have football practice, once a week I have a football league game, twice a week I do bodybuilding at the gym and once a week I go running.
I have followed that kind of routine for more than two years by now and it has changed my life. I feel much more energized now. But that is not all. Physical exercise has helped me to generate many good ideas. Even the idea of writing this blog post came to my mind today at the gym.
Starting an internet based business, new topics in the training programs, new ideas for developing business plans, new people to contact for help or discussion are all side products of physical exercise for me. Today it came to my mind to take contact with internet marketing specialist to propose him an idea about internet marketing support groups. In addition, I got an idea of contacting and old course mate from the university who worked at Southwestern Company selling books in US some five or six years ago, to discuss strategies about selling insurance contracts and pension funds in Estonia.
From time to time I run out of ideas and sitting behind computer will not help. But if I go to gym or running then miraculously something happens in my mind. The ideas start to flow. But it has to be an individual sport and you have to be alone. I have never created any good ideas during football practice or on the occasions when I have been running together with friends.
In many cases after training sessions I will get behind my computer and I am full of energy and ideas. Or I grab a phone and call people about my ideas or send out lots of emails to take contact with different people or talk over Skype.
At least it works for me, but I think it will work for you too. So, do you have similar experiences?
